Function
The Board of Trustees governs, manages, and maintains University of Illinois, including all its branches; employs educational and administrative personnel; prescribes courses of study; sets tuition and fees.

Trustees-6 years from 3rd Monday in January of each odd-number year; Voting Student - July 1 of each year or on date of selection, whichever is later, and expiring on next succeeding June 30th , Governor designates student with legally binding vote

Qualifications
Per the U of I Trustees Act, each trustee must be an Illinois resident. A failure to meet or maintain this residency requirement constitutes a resignation from and creates a vacancy in the Board.
