Function

Workers’ Compensation Commission Arbitrators conduct judicial hearings, render awards and decisions, and approve settlement contracts in accordance with statutory requirements of the Illinois Workers' Compensation and Occupational Diseases Acts. The Canons of the Code of Judicial Conduct as adopted by the Supreme Court of Illinois govern the hearing and non-hearing conduct of arbitrators.

Qualifications

Any arbitrator who has not previously served as an arbitrator for the Commission must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. Arbitrators must devote full time to their duties and must not hold other offices or positions of profit. Arbitrators who are attorneys shall not engage in the practice of law.

Compensation

$155,862. per annum

Composition

12 arbitrators shall be appointed to terms ending July 1, 2012, 12 shall be appointed to terms expiring July 1, 2013, All additional arbitrators shall be appointed to terms ending July 1, 2014. Thereafter, all arbitrators shall be appointed to 3-year terms.
